Players of the Week - January 14

RUZGAS WINS REGION 5 HONOR

Edvinas Ruzgas scored 30 points to lead Weatherford past previously undefeated Temple and earn the NJCAA Region 5 Player of the Week for January 7-13.  Ruzgas made 6 of 9 three pointers and had 7 rebounds along with 2 assists, 2 blocks, and 3 steals for the Coyotes (14-4, 1-0).  Ruzgas is a 6'6" sophomore from Vilnius, Lithuania and attended high school in Charlottesville, Virginia.

 

OKORIE NAMED WJCAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Nick Okorie, a 6'0" sophomore from Houston, TX and Kempner High School, had 25 points for South Plains College in a 99-77 win over Clarendon College.  Okorie was 10 of 18 from the field and hit four 3-pointers.

 

THOMPSON EARNS NTJCAC HONORS

Kendrell Thompson, a 6'3" freshman from Houston, averaged 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 2.5 steals in Collin College's wins over Ranger and McLennan.  Thompson shot 50% from three point range to lead the Cougars to a 2-0 start in conference play.
